keith kelley ♉️despite being popular and on the basketball team at his school, he's extremely insecure due to his inferiority complex and constant state of identity crisis. he has a short temper that he quells by brutalizing his younger brother which is partially rooted in his burning jealousy of his monoracialism. he obsessively reads threads on r/hapas, which only exacerbates these feelings of resentment towards both Sam and his mother and he feels that she favors his brother over him. however, he has deep seated insecurities in other areas as well. he has rejection sensitivity and deals with overwhelming emotions by working out or humiliating and degrading Sam in various ways because he lacks the emotional intelligence to properly articulate his feelings. he's actually somewhat attached to his brother and ultimately seeks his approval, but he doesn't realize this. part of the reason he's so cruel to Sam is because he misinterprets his withdrawn nature as arrogance and a feeling of superiority and this paranoia often leads him to become competitive in other relationships. contrary to all of this, he's seen as somewhat pleasant to people who only know him on a surface level.sam kelley♓️he isn’t afraid of social interaction, but avoids it nonetheless. he is an enigma to his family and barely talks to any of them, stowing away in his room for most of the day except to go to the bathroom and scavenge for food. his parents used to make efforts to get him to spend time with them, but gradually gave up. he takes advantage of this by spending hours in his room browsing image boards crossdressing without interruption. he enjoys taunting his older brother and getting a rise of of him, and unfortunately keith doesn’t realize that it’s with the intent of getting a reaction so it always plays out the same. He considers himself intellectually superior to keith and pities his seemingly being unable to self reflect and avoid repeating the same mistakes, so he often tries to give keith advice but ends up coming across as patronizing. he also develops severe bulimia after breaking up with louis and hides his condition from keith until keith discovers his stash of vomit bags and he is forced to recover. His body image issues are never fully resolved though, and he attempts to improve his self worth by sleeping around with every white boy he can find. in the end, he always finds himself going back to keith.
andrew miller ♋️quite sheltered and withdrawn from being picked on at school. however, he’s very bossy when given a leadership role in group projects. he’s the president of the Board Games Club, where he plays dnd with the other nerds. he falls for sam because of their mutual interest in robotics and sam becomes his first out-of-school friend, excluding people from the church that he went on playdates with when he was little. his dad killed himself when he was in primary school so him and his mother are looked down on by other mormons, causing him to develop a resentment he’s unaware of. he’s completely oblivious to the fact that he’s becoming more and more distant from his faith and has never thought very deeply about it because he thinks forcing himself to rationalize the teachings is normal. his flimsy belief makes it really easy for sam to get in his pants since he’s able to create nonsensical loopholes to justify sinning, such as when he only agrees to do anything sexual with him once they are in an “established relationship”. overall, he can come across as an arrogant prick sometimes, but he’s actually just unaware of how blunt he can seem. his mom is a little bit suspicious of sam’s influence on her son, but she’s just glad andrew has a friend and brings them snacks during study sessions. andrew is very loyal to her and tells her everything, so when he starts banging sam the guilt starts to eat him alive. sam dumps him for louis and leaves him feeling used and “unclean” and he ends up regretting everything.louis soriano♏️he dates sam for a period of time after being dumped by his gf, heather. he grew up neglected and as a result of never learning to cook, he only eats frozen food and considers himself a “tv dinner connoisseur”. a college dropout, he works at a pizza joint full time and sells drugs to grade schoolers part time, which supplies him with enough income to not only rent his own apartment, but also groom sam with femboy gear like cosplays and gamer headphones. he’s overall kind of a garbage person since he was raised by parents who instilled shitty morals into him. the few friends that sam does tell about him say that he sounds slimy and predatory as fuck, which he is. he’s kind of okay at playing the guitar and listens to heavy metal regularly, citing it as the “most realist” genre of music. listening to music on full volume has lead to him having substantial hearing damage and always having to ask people to repeat things. his apartment is messy and invested with fruit flies, but he cleans it up just enough for sam not to notice when he comes over. he prioritizes comfort when choosing outfits so he can often be seen at the supermarket wearing linty pajama pants and slides. lastly, he hates SSRIs and cites mdma as the “source of healing” that cured his depression.
jeremy carter ♎️he’s keith’s teammate and really popular but doesn’t let that hinder him from making meaningful friendships with the “weird kids”. at the beginning of the timeline, sam has a huge crush on him and admires him in the locker room during p.e. he finds out sam and keith are brothers after keith fails to force sam back into his bedroom when he came over, which already gives him a weird first impression of their relationship, but he doesn’t give it much thought at first. he’s a pretty down to earth guy, making him generally well liked although keith finds his laidback nature aggravating. some people pay him $5 for an astrology or tarot reading. he’s really involved in school events and enjoys contributing by being a part of the student council and has had to make last minute yearbook revisions a few years in a row after noticing several mistakes the editor didn’t pick up on. he has a 3.5 gpa and lets keith borrow his notes and copy off him. him and keith have some kind of homoerotic gym rivalry going on and he makes comments on keith’s biceps to observe his over the top reactions, which he finds amusing. he wants to top keith but does not know how to go about doing so. he often gushes to mateo about his bro crush on keith, which makes mateo sad and jealous. when he’s not formulating different plans to get in keith’s pants, he engages in dubious activities like coercing intoxicated underclassmen and other similar hobbies.mateo garcia ♌️wip 😒
